To Catch A Thief (1955)
Grace Kelly could not have known that a year after starring in Alfred Hitchock’s French-Riviera thriller To Catch a Thief, she would be taking on a new starring role in the neighbouring principality of Monaco - as their princess. The film is archetypal golden-age Hollywood with its chic vintage cars, evening dresses and achingly beautiful heroine. The film stars Cary Grant as The Cat, a notorious but retired jewel thief, and Grace Kelly as the wealthy and beautiful Frances Stevens. Charming, flirty, and charismatic, Kelly and Grant’s on-screen relationship takes a romantic turn as their paths become inextricably linked. Look out for multiple scenes shot in Vieux Nice, Cannes and Monaco.
