Queen Elizabeth just celebrated being at the head of the British Monarchy for the last 70 years and you best believe that over the last seven decades she has had the pleasure of staying in some of the most coveted locations in the world. Here we chart our Top Ten fave stays worthy of a queen......
The Waldorf Astoria, New York, USA

Home to New York's elite and a staple for any trip to New York, the WA NYC has played host to celebrities, politicians and royalty in equal measure. In a further claim to fame the hotels Art Deco interiors feature heavily in many Hollywood blockbusters. So it only made sense that the hotel was one of the first stops for the Queen post her coronation. In 1957 it hosted a gala in her honour. Currently the property is undergoing a major renovation and will be open to the public again in 2023.

This iconic landmark in Singapore is the birthplace of the Singapore sling. In a land where modern buildings rule the landscape this 19th-century oasis is set in tropical gardens in the heart of the city. Named after the founder of modern Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles, the all-suite hotel has hosted the likes of Charlie Chaplin. The Queen stayed here in 2006.

As part of the Commonwealth, Canada has played host to the Queen more than 20 times over the years. With 440 rooms spread across the shores of Lac Beauvert this is a tranquil and peaceful spot. Prince Philip and the Queen stayed here in 2005, taking over the six-bedroom wood-frame outlook cabin with views over the Candian Rockies.

Scattered across a two-mile crescent-shaped beach, the main building is evocative of a 1950s plantation house. Villas come with their own butlers and chefs but should you get bored of in-room dining, the resort has nine restaurants on the premises. The resort counts John F Kennedy and Jackie O amongst its roster of impressive guests. When she stayed here in 2002 the Queen was particularly interested in the resorts dedicated equestrian centre.

With only one royal visit to Austria under her belt, Her Majesty was quick to ensure that she did it right. Staying at the previous residence of Archduchess Maria Theresa, with its stucco ceilings, parquet floors and impressive fabrics, the Hotel Imperial guaranteed that her stay was glamourous. For the Queen the Habsburg royal family temporarily furnished one of the suites with royal antiques.

On a state visit to India, the Queen stayed at the maharajah's palace which is now a hotel. Still the home to the matriarch of the Jaipur royals, the hotel is an enclosed oasis of just 13 rooms, including the Queen Elizabeth suite. In 1961 the Queen rode into Jaipur atop an elephant.

Renowned as the grande dame of Berlin hotels, The Adlon is situated right next to the Brandenburg Gate. The original building enjoyed its golden era in the 1920's and 30's hosting the upper echelons of society. After decaying in the Communist era it underwent a reconstruction after reunification, restoring it in the style of a true classic with marble floors and cut glass. The Queen stayed here as recently as 2015.

The Huka Lodge has played host to the Queen several times since the 1980's. What began life as a tented fishing camp now has 22 luxury rooms. The Queen was supposedly fond of the trout fishing.

After a visit to her uncle King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson, the Queen and Prince Philip headed to the pretty provincial village of Les Baux. Their discreet accommodation here came with a Michelin-starred restaurant that has a long history in French gastronomy.
